Linguistic and semantic characteristics of articles and peer review reports in Social Sciences and Medical and Health Sciences: analysis of articles published in Open Research Central

Abstract We aimed to examine the differences in articles, peer review and editorial processes Medical Health Sciences vs. Social Sciences. Our data source was Open Research Central (ORC) portal, which hosts several journal platforms for post-publication review, allowing analysis of articles from their submission, regardless publishing outcome. The study sample included 51 research that had tag only 361 with only. Levenshtein distance showed text changes over article versions social science papers were statistically significant Introduction section. Articles longer Conclusion sections higher percentage merged Discussion sections. followed Introduction-Methods-Results-Discussion (IMRaD) structure more frequently contained fewer declarations non IMRaD sections, but figures. Word Count, Clout, less positive Tone. Linguistic revealed a Tone reports Achievement variables. Peer significantly two disciplines did not differ characteristics process at all stages between submitted published version. This may be due fact they on same publication platform, uses uniform policies procedures both types articles.
